A Chair opened a public hearing on exceeding the certified tax rate and heard one resident say their county tax bill remained lower this year despite a 5¢ increase and that the resident's home assessment rose by more than 80%.
The resident said, "I just want to I checked my taxes today, both county and and with the 5¢, I'm still lower than what I was last year. So between the state doing it and, you know, and the tax rates, We're doing pretty good. And my house went up over 80%. So I'm happy." The Chair responded, "That's good."
The exchange in the transcript was brief. The resident also said the hearing "probably should have been set for May" when discussing timing; the Chair replied that organizers had not known how many people would attend. The Chair then closed the public hearing on exceeding the certified tax rate. The transcript contains no record of a motion or vote during the segment.
