Craven County initiates upset‑bid processes and approves conveyances for multiple tax‑foreclosed parcels

Craven County’s Board of Commissioners on July 6 acted on a series of offers and conveyances for county-owned tax-foreclosed parcels, authorizing upset-bid advertisements for some parcels and approving final conveyances where the upset-bid period had expired.
County Attorney Arey Grady told the Board the county had received initial offers on multiple parcels acquired via tax foreclosure; offers ranged from several thousand dollars (examples included offers of $9,000; $3,500; $2,700; $3,040; and $3,040). For those offers the Board adopted resolutions to begin the upset-bid advertising process in accordance with North Carolina General Statute §160A-269. For a separate set of parcels where no upset bids were received, the Board approved conveyances to the last and highest bidders (examples and purchase prices were included in the official minutes).
Each resolution was adopted unanimously. Grady and staff will complete statutory advertising and administrative steps; completed conveyances will be executed once closing and payment conditions in the resolutions are met.
