Cooleemee commissioners approve court repaints, surplus sale and $3,000 in building repairs

Motions approved unanimously included repainting the tennis/pickleball courts (green with white tennis and black pickleball lines), repainting basketball courts (blue with white lines) and repainting the shuffleboard area (green with white lines). The board also accepted the Planning Board recommendation not to allow a billboard at the property on Hwy 801.
Commissioner Almond moved to surplus and sell the aluminum car sheds next to the Zachary House via closed bid or silent auction with bids starting at $500; Commissioner Reavis seconded and the motion carried. The board appointed Clerk Steven Corriher as the signee for ABC zoning resolution forms required by the state; Commissioner Tippett moved, Commissioner Ferrell seconded and the motion carried 4-0. The minutes note that this appointment does not grant the clerk authority to approve alcohol sales—the state provides final approval.
Commissioner Reavis moved to adopt a stipend to cover the clerk’s increased insurance costs — a $380 monthly payment to be disbursed in two installments (June and December); Commissioner Almond seconded and the motion carried 4-0. Separately, the board accepted Truman Services’ quotes for electrical, brick and flashing work at the old police building and at the tennis court for a total of $3,000; Commissioner Reavis moved, Commissioner Almond seconded and the motion carried 4-0.
All motions recorded in the minutes carried unanimously. The board adjourned after the final motion.
