Hartland selectmen sign audit engagement, note Towle legal fees and announce town updates

Hartland selectmen voted Nov. 18 to sign an engagement letter with Brantner, Thibodeau & Associates for the June 30, 2024 audit and addressed routine town operations including legal-fee reporting and community events.
The board voted 3-0 to sign the auditors’ engagement; the agreement is for $12,800, as recorded in the minutes. Selectmen initialed the October expense summary report.
Staff reported legal fees for the Towle case totaled $27,677.90 as of Oct. 31, 2024; the meeting had earlier entered and exited an executive session under 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(E) to discuss the town’s legal rights and duties in that case and took no public action after the session.
The board also signed the Somerset County Hazard Mitigation Plan signature page.
Town operations updates included a maintenance report that the regeneration system on the new Doppstadt machine has been down for a few weeks and a crew was scheduled to be on site the following day to repair it.
Tabitha Greenwood invited residents to the First Annual Christmas Parade on Dec. 14, 2024, starting at Cal’s Way and ending at the Irving Tanning Community Center at 5:00 p.m.; she encouraged attendees to “come say ‘HI’ to Santa.”
The meeting concluded with warrants signed and a 3-0 vote to adjourn at 7:43 p.m.
