Yutan Public Schools board approves policy updates, evaluation schedule and sale of old uniforms

President Adam Wacker called the Yutan Public Schools Board of Education to order at 6:00 p.m. on Nov. 10 in the high school media center.
The board approved multiple routine governance items during the meeting, including monthly policy updates, a timeline for the superintendent evaluation, and the disposal or sale of out-of-circulation uniforms. All formal motions carried on roll call votes with five members voting yes and one absent.
Why it matters: the approved policy updates were presented as current with state statute and Nebraska Department of Education requirements, the evaluation timeline sets deadlines that will return a final report to the board president by Dec. 4, and the uniform disposal is intended to free storage space and recover value for the district.

The board approved a package of policy items certified as reviewed by the superintendent: 5001 (Compulsory Attendance and Excessive Absenteeism); 5002 (Admission of Students); 5003 (Admission of Part-Time Students); 5004 (Option Enrollment); 5005 (Transportation); 5015 (Protection of Pupil Rights); and 5018 (Parent Involvement in Education Practices). Judy Daniell moved and Eric Wilke seconded the motion to approve the policies; the motion carried (Yes 5, No 0, Absent 1).
The board adopted the superintendent evaluation tool and timeline presented by the administration. The schedule sets the superintendent self-evaluation for Nov. 10–16; NASB will send board self-evaluation results beginning Nov. 17; board members are to complete their evaluations Nov. 17–26; and a final report and executive summary will be provided to the board president by Dec. 4. The adoption motion passed on roll call (moved by Judy Daniell; second by Bill Hancock).
Under Policy 3019 (Sale or Disposal of School Property) the board approved disposal or sale of uniforms that are no longer in circulation or serviceable; Dan Ridder moved, Eric Wilke seconded, and the motion carried on roll call.
Closed session and other items The board voted to enter closed session to discuss collective bargaining negotiations with the Yutan Education Association (motion by Judy Daniell, second by Eric Wilke). The board entered closed session at 7:27 p.m. and reconvened at 7:52 p.m.; no action was taken during the closed session.
The Elementary Student Council provided a brief update and led the Pledge of Allegiance earlier in the meeting. No public comments were submitted during the meeting's public comment period.
The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Dec. 8, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the high school media center.
