The Montebello Parks and Recreation Commission on Tuesday evening confirmed volunteers to fill three vacancies on two ad hoc committees and approved its June 18 minutes, the panel said after a meeting that began at 5:34 p.m.
Commissioners voted by roll call to appoint Commissioner Yola to the Arts and Culture Committee and to appoint Destiny and Commissioner Yola to the Special Events and Programs Committee. The clerk recorded “Aye” from Chairperson Lovano, Vice Chairperson Jimenez, Commissioner Ulloa and Commissioner Castaneda during the confirmations.
The appointments followed a brief staff presentation explaining the committees’ roles. Staff said the Arts and Culture Committee advises on public art at parks and on the utility-box beautification program; the Special Events and Programs Committee helps plan city recreational events and program logistics.
A commissioner who nominated herself said, “I would like to nominate myself for the special events and programs committee.” The chair thanked the volunteers and noted that Director Sonoski will contact the new members with meeting schedules and project information.
The commission also approved minutes from its June 18 meeting by the same unanimous roll call.
No formal motions, amendments or dissent were recorded beyond the roll-call confirmations. The commission moved on to staff communications after the appointments.
What’s next: Director Sonoski will reach out to the newly appointed committee members to schedule future meetings and assign any initial tasks.
