The committee received an update on the airport interlocal agreement and board appointments. Mayor Mara said she and staff met with the airport board and that Bridger (a board participant) proposed pursuing a separate interlocal with the county, which could affect grant funding and double meeting obligations for county commissioners.
Mara said she planned a follow-up conversation with the county administrator to clarify whether transferring assets or dissolving items could be structured so both parties are protected and federal or state grants are not jeopardized. She also noted concerns about equal representation on the airport board and asked committee members whether they preferred keeping a city staff seat.
Members signaled support for appointing Mike Maples as the second city representative and keeping Beau, the airport manager, on the board. The committee also flagged two MOUs — with BRTA trails and the Rodeo Park — that staff said need updating; the BRTA MOU raises an insurance question where a trail crosses landowned by the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary.
Staff will provide an updated interlocal draft after the mayor’s follow-up and will circulate recommended appointments and revised MOUs for council consideration.
