Giltner board removes bank signatory, rolls over CD; discusses daycare cleanup and parking-lot bids

The Giltner Public Schools Board of Education on June 8 approved removing Chris Vaught from all Cornerstone Bank accounts and adding Jessica Danielson effective immediately, and approved payment of May claims from the general fund.
Board President Brad Schutt called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. and the board voted unanimously on a series of routine motions, including approving the May meeting minutes and the claims. A motion by Rath to remove and replace bank signatories, seconded by Hunnicutt, carried by roll call vote, 5–0.
The board also agreed to roll over the district’s Quality Capital Fund certificate of deposit for seven months at 3.80% and instructed Gordon, a district staff member, to handle the transaction. The minutes record the decision and the term and rate chosen; no mover, seconder or roll-call tally for the rollover is listed in the minutes.
Members discussed cleanup and grading at the old daycare site to improve drainage. Resident Jaxyn Eastman removed plastic, insulation and other debris; board member Rath offered use of a magnet to assist cleanup, and President Schutt said his father-in-law, Brian Bish, would help move dirt to level the area. Gordon suggested installing a temporary snow fence to keep people out until work is complete.
The board reviewed options for repaving and surfacing parking lots, weighing asphalt millings (grindings) against crushed concrete. Gordon said he has contacted Mid-Nebr Land Movers for quotes; Schutt raised concerns that millings may lack longevity on areas without a hard-packed base, while the board noted millings could work for the main west parking lot where a firm base exists. Rath said he would contact Superior Outdoor Sprayers for a weed-control quote to address vegetation along the lot borders.
During new business, a community poster bid of about $150 was mentioned; the minutes record that Schutt, Rath, Hunnicutt, Lyon and Happold each offered to contribute to cover the cost.
The board tentatively set its July regular meeting for Monday, July 13, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Giltner School library. Happold moved to adjourn at 7:25 p.m.; Lyon seconded and the motion passed, 5–0.
