Giltner track athletes qualify for state meet; girls team finishes as district runner-up

Giltner Public Schools recognized multiple student-athletes who qualified for the state track meet during the board’s June 9, 2025, meeting.
The AD/Principal reported that district champions and state qualifiers include Peyton Schutt (pole vault; also qualified for the 100 hurdles), Jordan Margritz (100 hurdles; placed seventh at the state meet), Gracie Kreutz (800), and Avery Reeson (1600). Relay teams also qualified: the girls 4x800 team of Gracie Kreutz, Avery Reeson, Agueda Calvo Perez and Jayci Buettner placed 8th at state. Additional qualifiers from district placings included Blaydon White (100), Brody Cummings (800), and Agueda Calvo Perez (200). Two athletes — Reeson in the 1600 and Schutt in the 100 hurdles — qualified for state by time as two of the six fastest statewide despite placing third.
Why it matters: the results reflect individual and team strength in Giltner’s track program and set the stage for summer training. Coaches have begun summer weight sessions and are organizing leagues and camps as student-athletes prepare for fall activities.
The AD/Principal noted positive feedback from coaches running summer strength programs and emphasized continued preparation for upcoming competitions.
