Trustees approve hire of Liana Aguirre as historic preservation specialist

After returning from a closed executive session on limited personnel matters on Nov. 25, the Mesilla Board of Trustees voted by roll call to hire Liana Aguirre for a new historic preservation position in the Community and Economic Development department.
The board’s motion to hire was moved and seconded and recorded by the clerk; trustees voted in favor. Staff said the position will support preservation-related permitting, town inventory maintenance and coordination with Cultural Affairs.
The hire will be implemented through the department; staff will provide onboarding and an update to the trustees about the position’s integration into department workplans.
