Giltner school board approves wide-ranging update to district policies

The Giltner Public Schools Board of Education on July 14 approved a comprehensive package of revised and new district policies.
Ross Lyon, a member of the Giltner Public Schools Board of Education, moved to adopt the updates; Brandon Hunnicutt seconded and the motion carried by roll call vote (Yes: 5; Absent: 1).
The package adopted by the board included, among others, the Creation, Amendment and Distribution Policy (1002); Complaint Procedure Policy (2006); Bidding for Construction, Remodeling, Repair or Site Improvement Policy (3003); Fiscal Management for Purchasing and Procurement Using Federal Funds Policy (3004.1); Record Management and Retention Policy (3023); Handbooks Policy (3026); Purchasing Credit Card Program Policy (3036); Design-Build Contracts Policy (3043); Data Breach Response Policy (3047); Title IX Policy (3057); Staff and District Social Media Use Policy (4051); Superintendent Evaluation Policy (4057); Behavioral and Mental Health Training Policy (4059); Compulsory Attendance and Excessive Absenteeism Policy (5001); Protection of Pupil Rights Policy (5015); Student Records Policy (5016); Parent Involvement in Education Practices Policy (5018); Student Appearance Policy (5031); Emergency Exclusion Policy (6031); Concussion Awareness Policy (6034); Participation and Assignment of Athletic Teams Policy (6044); and Behavioral Intervention Policy (6045).

The hearing listed on the agenda for Policy 5015 (Protection of Pupil Rights) is recorded as occurring on the agenda but the minutes do not include testimony, discussion, or a separate outcome for that hearing.
