Trappe schedules Dec. 4 follow-up on influent bar screen bids; lead-line contract extension deferred

Town Administrator Erin Braband told the council four bid packages were received in response to the RFP for the influent bar screen rehab/replacement. After discussion, the council requested a meeting with Bearing Construction and GMB on Dec. 4, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. to discuss each bidder’s proposed screen option and the differences between them.
Braband also presented a contract amendment from Davis, Bowen and Friedel to extend services related to the town’s lead-line inventory. Council members said they would like to continue the contract but chose to wait to see how much money remains after the influent bar screen RFP is awarded before finalizing any extension.
Separately, Commissioner Jeremy Newnam asked Braband to consult with Town Attorney Ryan about whether and how the town can allocate American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for sewer liner installations after receiving the sewer camera/jetting report, noting a short timeframe for action. The workshop minutes record the request; no legal guidance or outcome was recorded at the meeting.
The council's next concrete step on the influent bar screen matter is the Dec. 4 meeting with Bearing Construction and GMB; the workshop minutes do not record any formal votes on the bar-screen procurement or the DBF amendment at this session.
