Trappe council approves Lakeview Park mulch removal and rubber-mulch installation despite one dissent

Commissioner Walter Chase moved to approve Peake Contracting’s $5,550 bid to remove the mulch, grade the area, place two layers of fabric and four layers of sand, and to approve Playground Outfitters’ $10,021.40 quote for the rubber mulch. Commissioner Rose Potter seconded the motion.
The motion passed 4–1. Commissioners Michael Sullivan, President Schmidt, Potter and Chase voted in favor; Commissioner Jeremy Newnam voted against the measure. The council did not record additional conditions or amendments to the contracts at the workshop.
The decision directs staff to proceed with contracting for both the removal/preparation work and the rubber-mulch installation. Braband presented the quotes and the council deliberated on options, including a single quote for pea gravel that the council did not select. No timeline for the work was specified in the workshop record.
The council adjourned at 5:24 p.m.
