Trappe OKs Main Street closure for Nace’s Day parade on Nov. 2

Yvonne Freeman, chairman of the Nace’s Day celebration committee, asked the council to close Main Street from Slaughter Lane to Howell Point Road on Nov. 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for the 157th annual celebration. Freeman requested use of Nace’s Park, Veteran’s Park and the open lot behind Veteran’s Park for parade staging and festivities. Sgt. Aita said he would discuss support with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and Commissioner Jeremy Newnam offered to coordinate barricade assistance with the fire department.
The council voted unanimously to approve the street closure and park use for Nov. 2. The parade is scheduled for 1 p.m. and additional activities, including live music, will continue until 4 p.m.
