Commissioners review SRO agreement, emergency 9‑1‑1 recorder upgrade and a proposed meeting-time change

Major Ray Goody introduced the FY2027 intergovernmental agreement with the school system for the School Resource Officer (SRO) program and summarized its funding: "The school pays 50% of the salary, and then we pay the other 50%." Goody also described the county's radio recording system as incompatible with a recently purchased radio system and at risk of catastrophic failure; he said the recorder replacement would cost "just over a 130 something thousand dollars" and staff recommended using SPLOST funds to cover the purchase.
Chair proposed returning the work session to 4:00 p.m. and setting the voting session at 5:00 p.m. to reduce staff time and costs; the board agreed to consider the change over the coming weeks. County manager Joey noted the flash report and agreements list were in the packet and requested an executive session related to real estate (he indicated no vote was expected afterward). The county attorney (Miss Davis) asked whether the board needed an executive session on pending litigation.
Next steps: staff will prepare materials for the SPLOST‑eligible recorder purchase and for the SRO intergovernmental agreement; commissioners will decide later whether to change meeting times and will hold executive sessions after the upcoming voting session as requested.
