April Dunbar was sworn in as the new director of the Baron Metcalf Emergency Communications Center during the Glasgow City Council meeting. The chair administered the oath and Dunbar responded, "I agree," as the council congratulated her and noted Beverly Harbison's recent retirement from the position.
The chair praised Dunbar's years of service as assistant director and said the city is proud of its 9-1-1 communications center; several staff members from the center attended the meeting.
The chair also reviewed administrative executive orders (no action required) that include a title/position change to an ordinance, creation of an administrative assistant position in recreation, a farmers market custodian, and updates to the police department operating policy, and asked council members to review the packet for details.
The council announced several upcoming community events: a Liberty Tree dedication Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. on the courthouse lawn with the Daughters of the American Revolution, Team Kentucky and the Kentucky Historical Society; "Movies under the Stars" Friday, July 24 at Beaver Creek Park; a Green River Band concert July 31 on the Glasgow Square and an August 1 event at Beaver Trail Park that will include a drone show finale. The chair also reminded residents that the Glasgow Veterans Banner program is closing soon and spaces are limited.
The chair encouraged residents to explore the updated Glasgow City website, noting improved online-payment features and better content management. The council adjourned following a motion and voice vote and noted the next regular meeting is July 27 at 6 p.m.
