Bainville council approves routine claims and payroll; water project finished, ISO testing delayed

The Bainville Town Council approved routine financial measures Dec. 9, including claims and journal vouchers totaling $39,395.35 and payroll of $7,911.23, both motions carried unanimously.
During department reports, Fire Chief Norton told the council that testing for the department's Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating has been postponed until spring 2025. Mayor Toby Romo reported the town's water improvement project is complete and noted that "everything went well."
Council members also received updates on committees: the Cemetery Advisory Committee expects to meet in January 2025; the minutes note the Bainville Community Development Committee scheduled a meeting for Dec. 10, 2025 — a date that appears to be inconsistent with the December 2024 meeting and may be a typographical error in the minutes. The Roosevelt County Sheriff's Department was listed as not present.
John Gilligan replied to a public query from resident Cora Norton about a park bench, saying the Bainville Community Development Committee reached out to the previous president of the Main Street Restoration Committee and confirmed the bench was not placed as a memorial.
The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. and adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
