Architects and staff confirmed the commission has $3,000 budgeted in the discretionary community relations line for similar requests, and members emphasized the importance of other organizations and retailers continuing to donate items such as pencils, notebooks and clothing.
The roll-call vote recorded aye votes from Commissioner Martin, Commissioner Moore, Commissioner DeVito, Vice Mayor Noreen and Mayor Myers; the motion passed and staff recorded the donation in the community relations budget. The commission did not attach additional conditions to the award.
The commission moved on to its scheduled fire-station presentation after the vote.
