Dorchester board asks clerk to solicit bids for cemetery mowing

The Village of Dorchester Board of Trustees voted on June 10 to ask Clerk-Treasurer Jen Kasl to check with mowing companies and obtain bids to help with summer mowing at the village cemetery. The motion, made by Board member Tammie Lang and seconded by Chairperson Roger Miller, passed 3-0-2 (Matt Shaw and Nate Hitchins excused).
The vote came during a brief special meeting called to address two items: summer mowing options and the purchase of a mosquito sprayer. Board members discussed hiring someone to help with cemetery mowing and concluded that soliciting competitive bids would allow the village to compare costs and arrangements before taking further action. The motion directed the clerk to return with bids for consideration.
Board members in attendance were Chairperson Roger Miller, Board member Nancy Tellez and Board member Tammie Lang; Jen Kasl (Clerk-Treasurer), Deputy Clerk Dawn Zoubek and Utilities Superintendent Brent Kasl also attended. The record shows the motion was recorded as “Motion by Lang, seconded by Miller to have Clerk Kasl check with mowing companies and get bids.”
No funding source, schedule for solicitation, or timeline for returning the bids to the board was specified during the meeting. The clerk is responsible for gathering bids and reporting back to the board at a subsequent meeting.
