Natchez-Adams School Board approves routine business, adds Hubb Network as vendor and OKs student travel

The Natchez-Adams School District Board of Trustees on Jan. 20 approved a series of routine items—including personnel changes, financial reports, overnight student travel and the addition of The Hubb Network as a vendor for the district’s 21st Century grant—by unanimous 4–0 votes.
Assistant Superintendent Ernest "Tony" Fields recognized Natchez High School student Nya Brandon for scoring a 34 on the ACT and presented a certificate. Fields also recognized Jamien McCallister for his work growing the Pride of Natchez Marching Band.
The board approved the meeting agenda as printed after a motion by Vice President Phillip West and a second from Dr. C. Dianne Bunch. Trustees then voted to approve the Dec. 16, 2025 minutes and a consent package that included retirement and disposal of equipment, staff travel approvals, a contract extension for The Hubb Network for Natchez Options Academy and Natchez High School, and renewal of a dual-enrollment memorandum of understanding with Tougaloo College.
Timothy Byrd, the district’s business and finance manager, submitted December financial documents including reconciled bank statements, revenue and expenditure statements, a current budget status and monthly cash-flow reports; the board voted to accept the claims docket and financial statements on a motion by Dr. C. Dianne Bunch and a second from Mr. West.
The board approved multiple student travel requests—AFJROTC travel to Houston; Natchez Middle School and Morgantown Elementary School Beta trips to Biloxi; and choir travel to Vidalia, La.—and approved 2025–26 athletic schedules, including NHS/NMS track and a revised tennis schedule.
On a motion from Mr. West and a second by Dr. Bunch, the board approved adding The Hubb Network as a vendor for the 21st Century grant. Facility-use requests from the Evans family (Natchez Middle School cafeteria) and Christian Hope Baptist Church (McLaurin Gym) were also approved.
Superintendent Zandra McDonald told trustees that district attendance has remained steady "From August to September, we were at 94.46%, and currently we are at 94.53%," and noted student participation in the MLK Youth Luncheon. She announced a Community Conversations event on Jan. 22 at 6:00 p.m. at Natchez High School to discuss the district strategic plan, formation of an engagement council and a portrait of a graduate.
Board members offered brief remarks of appreciation and well-wishes. The board indicated that evaluations of the superintendent, board and board attorney will be completed at the next meeting. The meeting adjourned at 4:42 p.m.
