Misty Booth (TREES MS) and Caroline Ingram (GIC) presented the TREES MS planning project to the Natchez-Adams School District Board on Oct. 21, describing work with staff, students and community stakeholders since June and an open house held at Natchez High School.
Board members praised the quality of the plans. Dr. C. Dianne Bunch and board secretary LLJuna Grennell Weir thanked the project team for their work. Superintendent Zandra McDonald thanked TREES MS and GIC for collaborating closely with district staff and singled out Assistant Superintendent Ernest 'Tony' Fields for spearheading the initiative.
During public comments earlier in the meeting, members of the Natchez Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. — including Chapter President Berthenia Rose Jackson — gave a brief presentation on the chapter’s public-service initiatives and expressed appreciation for continued partnership with the district.
The TREES MS presentation included distribution of project plans to board members and demonstration of community engagement steps taken to date. No formal board action was required on the presentation; board members expressed support and encouragement for continued collaboration with community partners.
