Bainville council approves claims and payroll, hires utility clerk and approves a building permit

The Bainville Town Council approved routine financial items and several personnel and permit actions during its Sept. 9 meeting.
The council approved claims and journal vouchers totaling $26,384.15 (motion by Will Rathbun, second by Carol Rasmussen) and approved payroll totaling $9,675.13 (motion by John Gilligan, second by Carol Rasmussen). Both motions passed unanimously according to the minutes.
The council accepted the resignation of Utility Billing Clerk Mary Rathbun (motion by John Gilligan, second by Carol Rasmussen) and then reviewed applicants for the position. The council voted to hire Matthew Giese as Utility Billing Clerk at a starting pay rate of $18 per hour (motion by John Gilligan, second by Carol Rasmussen); the minutes record the motion passed unanimously.
On a separate item, the council approved a building permit for Lisa Sullivan to place two storage sheds in her backyard, with the approval contingent on Mayor Toby Romo conducting a property inspection. That motion was moved by Will Rathbun, seconded by Carol Rasmussen and passed unanimously.
All personnel and permit actions were recorded without dissent in the meeting minutes. The minutes note that the AFR will be reviewed before submission to the State of Montana and that additional budget work will be completed by Clerk Billie Jo Cochran and Samantha Mahlen before the next meeting.
