Harrison County approves no‑cost lease on Enterprise tower to expand county radio coverage

Harrison County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to approve a site lease with Enterprise Products Operating LLC that will allow county radio equipment to be installed on a tall Enterprise tower near the intersection of LOTA Road and State Highway 134.
Lieutenant Frank, speaking for the sheriff's office and the county's radio improvement effort, said the tower is about 440 feet tall and that Enterprise has offered the space at no cost. "They have been gracious enough to offer us the space that we need at no cost to us," he said, and added that the county's antennas are planned to be placed at roughly 250 feet. Frank told commissioners the county already has purchased the radio equipment and expects to install it "in the next 60 days." Judge Chad Sims said the court would send a formal thank‑you once the lease is executed.
The county has been pursuing improved countywide communications to address coverage gaps created by Harrison County's hilly topography and dense timber. Frank said the county initially considered using an older military tower but lacked nearby fiber at that location, prompting the search for an alternate site. He described the Enterprise tower location as "a good equalizing spot for that side of the county." Commissioners approved the lease 5–0.
What happens next: staff will finalize and execute the lease and arrange a small recognition for project partners once the system is operational. The sheriff's office said it will coordinate work with regional partners and MCA as the installation proceeds.
