The Board of Public Works and Safety approved on July 1 the use of the 3rd & Main parking lot for August Fest on Aug. 29 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Doug Granger, representing Granger's and End Zone, told the board the event will feature two stages with nine performers total, be restricted to patrons 21 and over with an admission fee, and use Granger’s full security staff augmented by Hobart Police. Granger said organizers will erect temporary fencing with two emergency exits while allowing space for delivery trucks and emergency vehicles to enter and exit. The board voted 3–0 to approve the request.
The approval includes the applicant’s stated safety plan; the board did not set additional conditions in the minutes beyond requiring security staffing and fencing as described.
