Stanton County USD 452 board unanimously approves contract for Christine Hammer as superintendent for 2026–28

The Stanton County Unified School District No. 452 Board of Education voted 7-0 Feb. 27 to approve a contract for Christine Hammer to serve as superintendent for the 2026–2028 school years.

President Lettie Nickell read and moved to waive the board’s required written notice for the special meeting under K.S.A. 72-8205, saying, “I, Lettie Nickell, moved to hereby waive the written notice required under the provision of K.S.A. 72-8205 as to the time, place, and purpose of a special meeting of the Board of Education of Unified School District #452, Stanton County, Kansas, held on February 27, 2026.” Bret Kendrick seconded the waiver and the board approved it 7-0; the minutes say all members signed the waiver.

The waiver cleared the way for a motion to approve the superintendent contract. Board member Bobbie Ehrlich moved to approve the superintendent contract for Christine Hammer for the 2026–2028 school year; Paige German seconded the motion, which carried 7-0. The minutes record the vote as unanimous but do not list individual roll-call votes beyond the tally.

During board comments, President Lettie Nickell emphasized that matters discussed in executive session should remain confidential and said she wants the board to review district goals after “Christy” arrives in July. The minutes do not specify whether “Christy” refers to the contract subject; the document identifies the contract recipient as Christine Hammer.

The special meeting was called to order at 12:45 p.m. and adjourned at 1:02 p.m. Melissa Wilson served as board clerk for the meeting.
