Superintendent Dave Novack told the Stanton County USD 452 board on Dec. 17, 2025, that a state reporting cycle completed in September reduced district funding by roughly $95,000 because of a decline in enrollment.
Novack said staff were surprised and grateful for an unexpected Christmas bonus distributed to employees, and that the district located an additional SPED office in the library with an attached bathroom to meet program needs. He said cleanup was under way after vandalism at the middle school — painting on walls and damage to furniture — and that maintenance staff would coordinate with the sheriff’s office. Facilities staff member Donnie is investigating camera installation to deter future incidents; Craig will report on maintenance needs at the January board meeting.
Novack also updated the board on several operations items, including a five-year uniform-rotation plan that assigns coaches responsibility for collecting sizes (final approval remains with the athletic director, principals, superintendent and board) and a roofing contractor (Washington Roofing) that will complete exterior work when warmer weather arrives.
The board asked Novack to follow up on operational questions raised about the Jr.-Sr. High School; Novack said he would confer with Principal Leah Crane and return with responses.
