Stanton County USD 452 board approves school-mapping grant, policy updates and fiscal housekeeping

The Stanton County Unified School District #452 Board of Education met Dec. 17, 2025, in the SCHS boardroom and approved a series of routine policy and financial items, including a school-mapping grant intended to improve 911 dispatching and alignment of bank certificate-of-deposit maturities.
At the meeting Superintendent Dave Novack said a grant application submitted by Clayton Kester will fund precise mapping of school locations for emergency dispatchers; the board approved the mapping plan on a motion by Val Zamudio, seconded by Bobbie Ehrlich. The board also voted 7-0 to accept the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) policy updates for December 2025 and to approve the Medill & Thooft CPA audit report for fiscal year 2024–2025, which auditor Rachel Thorpht described as a “smooth, clean” audit.
On financial housekeeping, the board approved aligning Johnson State Bank and Dream First Bank CD maturity dates and added authorized signers (Bret Kendrick, Lettie Nickel, Bobbie Ehrlich and Melissa Wilson) to paperwork; that motion carried 7-0. The board also approved a five-year uniform-rotation plan for athletics (Option B) and ratified the district’s annual School Reopening Plan update after Novack said there were no substantive changes.
