Director says federal E‑Rate funding for East Haven library may be reduced as FCC reviews program

At the July 16 meeting Director Sarah Mallory informed trustees that the library receives approximately $7,800 annually from the federal E‑Rate program, which helps offset the cost of internet service. Mallory said the library had not yet received funds for the current year and that the program is under review by the Federal Communications Commission; she warned that the E‑Rate amount the library receives could be decreased or eliminated.
Mallory noted that if E‑Rate funding is reduced the library might pursue a discount through the CEN program as an alternative to maintain connectivity. The board was informed but took no formal action on the matter at this meeting.
