The Tyrone Downtown Development Authority unanimously approved a night market scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at Shamrock Park.
Philip (staff) told the board the Town Council previously approved the event and that a contract with minor tweaks will be presented at the next DDA meeting. He reported the last event’s town costs (police and personnel) were about $1,200, and that Porta-John rental was also roughly $1,200; sponsorship funds initially covered town costs, and he said the DDA’s share from that event is “approximately $1,500.”
Chair (S2) emphasized the event’s economic effect on vendors, saying the event generated more than $30,000 in revenue for participating vendors. Organizers and vendors reported generally positive feedback and demand for additional events; staff said they will finalize a contract and allow the event promoter to begin marketing once DDA approval was recorded.
A motion to approve the night market was moved by Committee member (S1), seconded by Chair (S2), and passed by unanimous voice vote. Philip said he will present the event contract for final review at the next meeting.
