Bayberry and Bass River courses set openings, patio events and safety upgrades

At the May 18 meeting the Yarmouth Golf Enterprise Committee received a series of operational and capital-project updates for Bayberry and Bass River courses from Golf Operations staff.
Bayberry: patio construction is ongoing and a new septic system has been installed; completion was anticipated in early June. A lightning detection and warning system for both Bayberry and Bass River was scheduled to be operational on June 1 and is configured to alert when lightning is detected within five miles; golfers will be instructed on how the system works. Bayberry White course will open for members at 6:30 a.m. beginning June 5 (Fridays through Mondays). The Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to sponsor "Golden Hour on the Green" on the new Bayberry patio on June 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., featuring a putting contest, prizes, a raffle, food and pro instruction. Clubhouse window replacement work was delayed until the fall, and a cart barn replacement is at the design stage.
Bass River: the committee was told the 5th green would be open for play on May 22. The green tee on the 10th hole is open and will play at about 200 yards; the short-game area is expected to open in a few weeks. The Bass River cart barn will be razed to provide additional parking, and the bag-drop area is being redesigned to ease traffic congestion.
Committee members noted the recent "Nine and Dine" event at Bass River was filled and that catering and food service are returning to normal after a Bayberry gas-line replacement and patio disruption. No formal votes were recorded on the capital projects at this meeting.
