The Tyrone Downtown Development Authority on Tuesday approved a new brand and a companion website aimed at promoting downtown businesses and events. Philip, a staff member, introduced consultant Katie Quattlebaum of Elevating Missions Consulting, who presented a style guide, color palette and several logo options, including a shamrock-shaped variant the board asked to see at the next meeting.
The website mock-up features a business directory, an interactive map of the DDA district, and links that will embed the town event calendar and permit information rather than duplicating those systems. Quattlebaum said she designed the site to be easy for the DDA to maintain: “You can literally drag and drop a photograph,” she said during her presentation. She also said she purchased the domain downtowntyrone.org and can launch the site once the board signs off on the final logo.
Board members asked for a shamrock-shaped logo option to be shown side-by-side with the proposed mark, and discussed using the new logo on a tent cover for future events. Philip said the tent would be purchased after the board selects a final logo. Committee member (S1) moved to approve the website contingent on the logo change being ready; the chair (S2) seconded and the board voted unanimously to approve.
Quattlebaum recommended using the town’s comp-plan outreach and the DDA’s social channels to notify businesses; she also said the DDA can rely on the town calendar to avoid maintaining a separate event calendar. Staff said they have email addresses for local business contacts and will coordinate an outreach blast once the site goes live.
Next steps: the consultant will provide the shamrock-shaped mock-up at the next DDA meeting, the board will finalize the logo, and the website will be published at downtowntyrone.org once the board confirms the final mark.
