Harwood awards North Water Main Loop contract; council reviews draft CIP

City Engineer Andrew Aakre told the Harwood City Council on July 6 that bids had been received for the North Water Main Loop and presented a draft Capital Improvement Plan for council review.
On a motion by Councilmember Dick Sundberg, seconded by Councilmember Chris Higgins, the council voted to award the North Water Main Loop contract to JR Ferche. Council members recorded the motion as passed. Aakre said the CIP draft will be returned at the August meeting for prioritization and further council direction.
Aakre also flagged related engineering items for future action, including development standards and haul-road policy best practices; he was tasked with bringing recommendations on haul-road permitting back to council. The contract award starts the procurement and construction coordination process, with project scheduling and contract documents to follow.
The council did not specify dollar amounts for the awarded bid in the minutes; staff were directed to complete the usual contract documentation and return with any required agreements.
