Bedford Public Schools reports summer programming and staffing updates ahead of fall

Bedford Public Schools staff said staffing is going well as the district prepares for the start of the new school year and described active summer programming across the district.
A staff member detailed programs including an elementary summer program at Jackman Road, latchkey programming, Safety Town, and a new junior high summer program with 24 students who are taking trips and building skills. "We have 24 kids participating in that program this year at the junior high, and they're building some skills and taking trips around," the staff member said. The high school is running credit-recovery offerings, the staff member added.
Earlier in the meeting a board member thanked the facilities department for continuing maintenance through heat and smoke this summer, crediting the team with work that enabled programming and building readiness for fall.
No new staffing actions or policy changes were proposed; the meeting closed after the updates and a motion to adjourn carried by voice vote.
