The Stanton County USD 452 Board of Education approved the hiring of Leighton Grover as Head Boys Golf Coach and accepted three resignations during its Feb. 11 meeting, after holding multiple executive sessions to discuss personnel matters.
Bret Kendrick moved to approve the contract for Leighton Grover as Head Boys Golf Coach; Paige German seconded and the motion carried 6-0. The board later accepted resignations and a retirement for Merwyn Snowbarger (assistant cross country and assistant high school track coach), Soila Ochoa (high school cheer sponsor) and Michelle Taylor (elementary music teacher) on a motion by Bobbie Ehrlich, seconded by Paige German; the vote was 6-0.
Minutes record the board entering executive session three times between 7:10 p.m. and 7:51 p.m. to discuss personnel items "including resignations, evaluations, and possible new staff and to protect the rights of the individuals," and a subsequent executive session from 7:53 p.m. to 8:03 p.m. to discuss negotiated-agreement language. The board did not disclose details of those closed sessions in open minutes.
The hires and accepted resignations were recorded as formal actions in open session; administration will follow personnel procedures for replacement and posting.
