The Stanton County Unified School District #452 Board of Education on Feb. 11 appointed board members Paige German, Lettie Nickell and Val Zamudio to serve on the district negotiations committee and approved recommended policy updates from the Kansas Association of School Boards.
Bret Kendrick moved to appoint German, Nickell and Zamudio to the negotiations committee; Rhett Seyb seconded the motion and the board voted 6-0 to approve the appointments. Later in the meeting, Superintendent Dave Novack summarized required policy updates and Kendrick moved to adopt the KASB-recommended changes; Paige German seconded and the motion carried 6-0.
Board members said the negotiations committee will represent the board in talks about the district's negotiated agreement. The board did not disclose details of bargaining positions; the meeting minutes show the body entered a separate executive session later that evening to discuss negotiated-agreement language.
The actions leave the board positioned to begin or continue contract negotiations under the governance structure the board approved.
