Town council approves $75,000 sewer-lining contract and $189,451 Parkson replacement

The Town Council approved two sewer system contracts during a Dec. 23, 2024 workshop that lasted from 1:00 p.m. to 1:29 p.m. Town Administrator Erin Braband presented both items. Commissioner Jeremy Newnam moved each motion; Commissioner Walter Chase seconded and both were approved unanimously by the members present.
Braband told the council that two bids had been received for a sewer lining project, from Livingston Septic and Insituform Technologies. Citing Livingston Septic’s lower bid, a responsive bid package and the town’s satisfaction with the company’s prior work on a sewer camera project, Commissioner Jeremy Newnam moved to award the sewer lining contract to Livingston Septic for $75,000. Commissioner Walter Chase seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Braband also reported that Bearing Construction notified the town that the influent bar screen would be rebuilt on-site rather than sent to Florida for refurbishment, and that Bearing would not change its price for the work. After discussion, Newnam moved to change the award to Bearing Construction to a Parkson replacement—rather than a refurbishment—at a cost of $189,451, citing the increased warranty that comes with a new screen. Chase seconded; the council approved the motion unanimously.
Present for the workshop were President Schmidt, Commissioners Jeremy Newnam, Michael Sullivan and Walter Chase, Administrator Erin Braband and Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan. With no further business the workshop was adjourned at 1:29 p.m.
