Farmers Market dates confirmed; economic development director highlights mural grant, contract renewal and August festival

During the presentation segment of the June 23 meeting, Mrs. Nita Edwards of the Zachary Farmers Market invited the public to the Train Depot market on June 27, said the market will be closed July 4, and announced a "Christmas in July" event with Summer Santa scheduled for July 11.
Economic Development Director Ashleigh McHugh told the council the city's contract with Retail Strategies has been renewed. She said trees were recently planted downtown, a $10,000 grant was awarded to support a new mural, a partnership has been formed with 225 Magazine, and the city is planning a Hot Air Balloon Festival in August. Ms. McHugh also said the procurement process for preparer services for the Train Depot and Old Town Hall concluded on June 30.
The announcements were made during the delegation/presentation portion of the meeting; no council action was required. Residents seeking details on events or partnerships were directed to City Hall or the Economic Development office.
