Mayor Randy Pogue opened the hearing at 6:36 p.m. on Dec. 16 to consider text amendments to Municipal Code Chapter 405 that would raise minimum residential densities, expand permitted land uses in commercial and industrial districts and create a downtown overlay. No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
Alderwoman Kathy Barger moved to continue the hearing to Jan. 21, 2025; Alderman David Lehman seconded the motion, which the board adopted unanimously. The continuation means staff and the board will consider written comments and return to the topic at the January meeting for additional public input and deliberation.
The agenda included a separate, repeated listing for the same Chapter 405 amendments; Mayor Pogue called that second listing at 6:37 p.m., no one spoke, and he adjourned that hearing at 6:37 p.m. The board minutes do not record substantive public testimony during the Dec. 16 meeting.
Next steps: the public hearing on Chapter 405 is scheduled to resume at the Board of Aldermen meeting on Jan. 21, 2025, when the board will accept additional public comment and take further action as appropriate.
