Battalion Chief Mike Razo reported to the Soldier Township Board on Nov. 12 that the fire department's call volume rose by 36 calls since Nov. 4, bringing the total to 942 calls as of Nov. 12.
Razo, presenting in the absence of Chief Lady, said proposed changes to current OSHA standards remain under consideration and not yet final. He reported that the chassis switch for unit B-73 should be completed and in service by Dec. 1, 2024, and that the department has begun onboarding the ESO records/dispatch system with a target go-live date of Feb. 1, 2025. Work on a strategic plan continues, and an RFP for the tanker approved in a previous meeting has been sent to interested parties.
Razo's update provides timing for several readiness and procurement items that affect emergency response capacity. The board did not record additional comments or public input on these operational items during the meeting.
