Conrad mayor updates council on Tree Board work, council to consider no-parking ordinance on Illinois Ave.

Mayor David Cates told the Conrad City Council on Nov. 18 that the Tree Board is pursuing changes to the citys tree ordinance and that he has been working to have the citys Tree City application accepted and approved.
Guest Tom Buffum raised a maintenance concern, saying it can be difficult to maintain trees planted on sidewalks and citing a tree in front of the Orpheum Theater as an example of the challenge of trimming or otherwise caring for trees adjacent to pedestrian paths.
Council members took the update as informational; no ordinance was adopted at the meeting. The council did note that a formal ordinance to create a No Parking Zone on the west side of the 300 block of Illinois, between the high school and 4th Ave. SW, will be presented at a future meeting.
Alderman Amber Schoenrock informed the council she will be absent from the Dec. 16 meeting; her absence was permitted. The council adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
