Conrad Council appoints two to Police Commission, approves $148,230 in claims and hears finance update

The Conrad City Council on Nov. 18 unanimously appointed two local residents to the citys Police Commission and approved claims totaling $148,230.69 during a meeting at Conrad City Hall.
Mayor David Cates nominated Tom Buffum for a term ending May 2027 and Amy Shaw for a term ending May 2028; the appointments were moved by Alderman Carrie Doty, seconded by Alderman Darryl Burditt and carried unanimously. The council also approved minutes from its Nov. 4 meeting earlier in the session.
Finance Director Jodi Rogers told the council expenditures are tracking against the adopted budget and said most real estate tax receipts are expected in December and January, which should improve year-end revenue totals. Rogers said she is completing closing entries for the annual financial report and expects them to be finished by the first week of December. She also noted a large pay request from contractor Triple Tree related to the Stormwater Project but said the city will not pay that request until reimbursements are received.
The formal motions recorded in the minutes were: approval of the Nov. 4 minutes (motion by Alderman Karla Breding, seconded by Alderman Carrie Doty; carried unanimously), approval of claims 29350—6—629383 totaling $148,230.69 (motion by Alderman Amber Schoenrock, seconded by Alderman Carrie Doty; carried unanimously), and the appointments of Buffum and Shaw to the Police Commission (motion by Alderman Carrie Doty, seconded by Alderman Darryl Burditt; carried unanimously).
The meeting record includes budget vs. actual and revenue reports for the General, Water and Sewer funds and others, which were referenced during Rogerss update. The council adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
Action items and next steps: the council will consider a formal no-parking ordinance for the 300 block of Illinois at a future meeting; Rogers will finalize closing entries in early December and proceed with routine year-end financial work.
