The Clinton School District Board of Trustees approved a slate of personnel hires and several policy updates during the meeting.
On personnel, the board approved hiring a group of substitutes (names listed in the meeting packet), Renee Peterson as head cook for the 2025–26 school year, Laura Henault as an independent contractor to assist in special education, Cheryl Fisher as an after-school program assistant, and mentor teachers Sarah Laffy, Jenny Hartwick and Rachel Edwards. The motions were moved and approved by voice vote; the transcript records one abstention on the substitutes item but does not identify the member who abstained.
The board also approved the parent-student handbook, the staff handbook and the Hanley transportation handbook for 2025–26. Trustees approved a drum and transportation agreement for the year and adopted an updated cell phone policy that will require students in grades 4–8 to store phones in lockboxes during school hours; the district plans to notify parents via Infinite Campus, Facebook and the district website.
Each personnel and policy item was approved through motions read on the record and passed by voice vote. The meeting transcript does not record numeric vote tallies for these items; all were recorded as "aye" unless a specific abstention was mentioned.
Next steps: staff will complete reference checks for recommended hires and bring any required hiring approvals back to the board for formal confirmation if necessary.
