Cemetery Trustees updated the Board of Selectmen on plans for a phased cemetery expansion, including grading, soil testing and aerial surveys. Trustee Fred Dobler said the original Severino Trucking proposal totaled about $182,000 with a $90,000 credit for soil removal, leaving roughly $92,000 remaining; the trustees intend to phase the work over two years.
Residents, including Richard Rugg of Stratham Lane, questioned the proposed road layout and accessibility for elderly and disabled visitors. Trustees said they would consider walkways and parking adjustments to improve access and acknowledged the need for a more detailed plan.
Funding: Trustees noted $25,000 available in the Cemetery budget and options to draw on the Cemetery Trust Fund. The trustees agreed to seek additional bids for fencing, landscaping and irrigation and to explore possible grant opportunities before moving forward.
Selectmen emphasized the importance of a clear written plan and accurate cost estimates before committing town funds. No contract award was recorded at the meeting; trustees will return with additional estimates and a phased, minimum-viable plan for review.
