At the Aug. 18 work session, Public Works Director Dave Zimbelman reviewed department budget needs tied to parks, water and solid-waste operations.
Zimbelman said most of his budget remains the same but highlighted higher parks-supplies costs, including bleachers, and asked for one additional full-time parks employee. He said the capital-improvements program should hold increased reserves for playground equipment and future projects.
On water operations, Zimbelman requested new equipment and on-hand replacement parts to avoid long delivery delays; he also said the department needs a new vehicle with a lift gate and noted a trailer had been recently purchased for equipment transport.
Regarding solid waste, Zimbelman said staff expect to replace dumpsters and may need a rate increase; he reported that a new garbage truck is scheduled for delivery in early October. He added that wastewater and treatment-plant budgets are adequate and that the stormwater project is delayed but should begin soon, and that some funding carries a finance deadline of Dec. 31, 2025.
