Conrad council OKs Main Street closure for Trunk-or-Treat, approves minutes and claims

The Conrad City Council on Oct. 21 unanimously approved a Main Street closure for the Chamber's Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 31, 2025, and approved routine meeting business including prior minutes and a slate of claims.

Mayor David Cates called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and reviewed attendance. The council first moved to approve the minutes of the Oct. 7 regular meeting; the motion was made by Alderman Carrie Doty, seconded by Alderman Darryl Burditt and carried unanimously.

The council then considered claims numbered 29279, 29287-29288, 29292-29303 and 29305-29315. Alderman Amber Schoenrock moved to approve the claims; Alderman Carrie Doty seconded. Payroll for October was recorded as not applicable in the minutes. The motion carried unanimously.

Mayor Cates provided a finance office update, explaining that the apparent disparity between the budget and the city's cash on hand was largely driven by timing: he said the largest portion of revenue typically comes in between December and February and that the city is otherwise on track. On event business, the council approved the Conrad Chamber's request to close Main Street for "Trunk or Treat" on Oct. 31 from 4:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and to assist with signage. Alderman Amber Schoenrock moved to approve the closure; Alderman Carrie Doty seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Under other business Mayor Cates briefly discussed recent inspections of city buildings. City Clerk Jerad Walston outlined features of the city's new conferencing hardware and its integration with Microsoft Teams that can be used for meetings; further technical details were referenced in an attached document.

With no further business, Alderman Carrie Doty moved to adjourn at 6:26 p.m.; Alderman Amber Schoenrock seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
