City approves $19,296.46 change order for North End Waterloo project

A staff member explained that the city negotiated reductions and that the increase reflected additional work and delays. As the staff member described it, they “got them knocked down just about half to the 19,296” and were “able to deduct from the contract . . . $18,000 because they went over the time frame.” The additional costs were attributed in discussion to complications from boring under the railroad and inspector-on-site requirements.
Council members asked whether approving the change order would conclude the project work; staff indicated the project should be essentially complete following the approved adjustment. The council then voted, with the clerk calling the roll; all recorded votes were “Aye.”
The council also heard an aside about staffing changes at KLJ, with a staff member noting that an employee, Mackenzie Butcher, had left KLJ and that some final wrap-up items were associated with that transition. The motion passed on the unanimous recorded vote.
The meeting moved on to scheduling and adjournment after the vote.
