Clyde Park schedules Feb. 11 town hall; mayor seeks costs to evaluate fire-department options

Mayor Wiley announced a Town Hall forum for Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025 at the school to review the town’s 2024 accomplishments, explain the roles of the mayor and councilmembers, and present local history and plans for public services. She said the forum will include a discussion of the Clyde Park Fire Department and asked council members for help gathering cost estimates and other information to evaluate options including consolidation with the Clyde Park Rural Fire Department, contracting with another department or updating and reinstating the Clyde Park Fire Department. Council member Dave Sarrazin agreed to assist the mayor in gathering the cost information.
The mayor also listed invited presenters for the forum, including Crazy Mountain Ranch, Jeff Bradner, the Public Health Department and Dan Johnston. At the same time Mayor Wiley reported operational matters: she said Wilsall Fire Department has a new EMT truck and has requested that some of Clyde Park’s supplies be stored on that vehicle; she said the town will inventory taxpayer-owned supplies and then present the inventory to the council for approval. Mayor Wiley said a candidate for a hiring/contracting position went elsewhere and that ARCA has proposed digitizing historical town documents (a quote for future grant use is pending). She also plans to attend an Executive Forum in Helena Feb. 26–28, which includes a Day at the Capitol.
Why it matters: decisions about the fire department’s future could affect emergency response arrangements and town expenditures. The town intends to present findings and estimated costs at or before the Feb. 11 forum and will use that information to inform next steps and any formal proposals to the council.
Next steps: The Town Hall forum is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2025. The council will review the inventory of supplies requested for storage with Wilsall Fire Department and will consider the cost estimates and proposals gathered by Mayor Wiley and Council member Sarrazin.
