Staff said the calendar mirrors the technical-center schedule with two dissimilar days and includes a full week off for Thanksgiving. To accommodate parent-teacher conferences and the technical center schedule, the district will treat Monday of Thanksgiving week as a comp day and make Tuesday a no-school day; several early-dismissal blocks and a scheduled 11:30 a.m. dismissal day were also included for planning purposes. The presentation noted the district did not build snow days into the calendar but will tack any unused snow days onto the final school day, and the district retains the ability to use up to three virtual learning days in place of in-person snow days when feasible.
Board members voiced concerns about staff needing time after the last student day to close out classrooms and requested that staff consider workshop or in-service scheduling to reduce one- and two-day weeks that can reduce instructional continuity. The board approved the calendar at the meeting and staff said the calendar will be posted with the specified early-dismissal times and other family-facing details.
