Whitney School after-school program reports 89 students registered; session 2 begins Nov. 3

Sarah O'Neil, co-director of Whitney School's after-school program, reported that session 1 saw activities from ELP to grade 8 and that 89 children are registered this year. Session 2 is scheduled to begin Nov. 3 with STEM, sewing and bike-club offerings.
Sarah O'Neil, co-director of the Whitney School after-school program, told the board the program’s first session served children from early learning through third grade with homework help, STEM stations and arts projects and offered clubs for older students.
O'Neil said, "For session 2, starts November 3, we are offering..." and described plans including indoor yoga on cold days, a new textiles and sewing offering and a jewelry activity led by Kira Laffy. She said 89 children are registered for the program this year.
O'Neil also reported that the statewide conference had awarded funding covering 33 grants across 75 sites and more than 300 staff; she described the program as "going really well" and said staff had purchased supplies for new electives.
The board acknowledged the report and thanked O'Neil for the update. The program will continue to coordinate offerings by grade group and run Monday–Wednesday sessions with targeted activities for younger and older students.
