Stratmoor Hills Sanitation District commits $252,217.50 toward new 10-yard Vactor sewer unit

The Stratmoor Hills Sanitation District Board of Directors on Aug. 21 unanimously approved canceling an earlier order for a 3-yard Vactor Impact unit and authorized buying a 10-yard Vactor 2100i Combination Sewer Cleaning Unit from Joe Johnson Equipment using a Sourcewell cooperative contract.
District Manager Kirk Medina told the board the originally ordered 3-yard "Impact" truck did not include features the district needed and asked the board to cancel that order and place the larger 2100i order instead. Director James Pesicka moved to cancel the prior order and authorize the new purchase; Director John Willcox seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
Under the motion, the purchase will be included in the districts 2025 budget and payment will be due upon delivery in 2025. With half the overall cost to be paid by the Water District, the Stratmoor Hills Sanitation Districts committed share is $252,217.50.
Medina said the supplier is Joe Johnson Equipment and that the procurement will use a Sourcewell cooperative bidding contract. The board recorded the authorization as a formal motion and vote; no dissenting votes were recorded.
The action comes as the district continues to manage aging maintenance equipment. Medina reported the districts existing sewer vacuum truck is again malfunctioning and Ferris Equipment will inspect it; he told the board that if the pony pump is the problem it should be covered by warranty. The district also has scheduled lift-station maintenance for all four stations and is addressing a separate College View sewer liner repair that encountered saturated embankments.
The board adjourned at 4:54 p.m.
